Each week we like to reach out to those who are a part of the Gray Office Park Community to hear more about their business! This week we had a chat with Peter O’Connell from OCC Construction. Peter has been a part of the  Gray Office Park community for the past few years now and with the business expanding and growing we are excited to see what is yet to come for OCC Construction.

What do you have coming up this year?

OCC have doubled turnover in 2018 and we continue to expand our team and resources. We are looking forward to growing again in 2019!

We are optimistic about the coming years and are investing in our staff creating an environment for growth. We are actively seeking new projects which fit our vision for the coming years. We are currently building out some housing estate projects for developers, completing works for the religious and education sector and recently started a project in Shannon Airport fitting out offices. We have also been successful enough to be able to donate over €20,000 in 2018 to mostly local charities and hope to increase this again in 2019.

Quickfire Questions with Peter

Peter - OCCPeter O’Connell- Managing Director

What is the most rewarding part about the work you do?

When we complete a project and can look at this with pride knowing we have built something that will likely outlast us! We get to turn green fields into homes of apartment blocks, renovate old buildings transforming these into a distillery or new offices.

What has been a highlight for you over the past year so far?

I did some awesome rock & ice climbing in the French Alps. Having a great team in OCC allows me to get away to the mountains to challenge myself and plan for the future.

What do you love most about Galway?

I live in Salthill and I love being close to the sea and being able to walk to the village any night of the week to enjoy live music and great atmosphere. I believe we have everything in Galway. Connemara is only out the road with some of the best scenery in the world. Galway is a fantastic town and everyone knows everyone!

What is your goal for 2019/20? Personal or business related!

Personal goal is to climb the North Face of the Eiger in Switzerland, a route made famous in the 1930’s and featured in films such as Eiger Sanction and North Face. Business goal is to win more complex projects and reach our turnover target of €8m.

Our Customers
